Or rather, that’s my online alias. I’m actually just Rei. “Yurei” is a term that refers to a type of ghost or apparition. Given my love for all things scary, it befits my interests aside from being a play on my name.

A Preface

Much like my namesake, I prefer to keep a ghost of a presence online. This preference will reflect in the information (or lack thereof) I have made available here. I'm not excessively private; I just prefer to share information about myself through personal connections rather than on public media. So if you want to know more, just ask.

I will say that I am at least able to drink legally.

I don’t particularly have an interest in astrology, but I supposed it would be a better alternative to outright sharing my birthday.

Such a pretty color. I especially like lilac and light purples.

Interests

General

I love exploring all sorts of creative outlets for the ideas and desires I possess. I enjoy art, creative writing, and programming, if you couldn't already tell from my rudimentary web design.

I'm currently studying to be a full stack software engineer. I very much enjoy the learning process so far.

I'm pretty health conscious. Nutrition, fitness, and healthy habits matter to me. Mental health is important to me too; though it's much more difficult to maintain.

I have an interest in the occult and anything strange and scary. In regards to my beliefs, I'd consider myself as someone that adheres to the principles of agnosticism.

Games

I primarily enjoy first person shooters and horror games. On a broader note, I tend to lean towards competitive or story driven games.

My favorite FPS games at the moment are Counter Strike 2, Valorant, and Escape from Tarkov. I didn't start playing shooters until recently, but I consider myself fairly decent for the amount of experience I have. Shooters are my "default" so to speak.

I occasionally enjoy horror/story games from time to time when I'm craving something else. I absolutely ADORE Alice: Madness Returns. You can read me waxing poetic about this game (among others) on my Backloggd profile here. I'm very interested in the following franchises as well: Fatal Frame, Silent Hill, Resident Evil.

I'd like to branch out and experience new games more, but I often find myself returning to the comforts of the familiar.

Movies

I don't think I've watched as many movies as I would've liked to at this point in my life. I've recently decided to watch more movies regularly and document my thoughts on them. You can follow me or check out my movies on Letterboxd here. My bio goes into more detail on my philosophy on ratings.

My favorite genres are horror, psychological thrillers, and war movies. Of course, I still love and appreciate all other movies outside of that selection.

Feel free to recommend any movies to me. It's always interesting watching other people's favorites.

Shows

I haven't watched a lot of shows, but my favorites so far are Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. Incredible writing, acting, directing, etc. I love indulging in masterpieces; there is never a shortage of details to appreciate.

I've watched a fair amount of anime as well. I would say my favorite series would be Hunter X Hunter and Monster. My rewatch time is much higher than my watch time for new series. I have an aversion to watching new series, as I feel that I can be a bit picky sometimes and it's easy for me to be turned off. You can check out my AniList here.

Books

I read whenever I can. I try to keep a healthy non-fiction and fiction balance for an even distribution of knowledge pursuit and creative enjoyment.

Music

I love rock music, especially alternative rock. I prefer to listen to music with full focus, so I don't really multitask or listen to music while I'm doing anything other than driving. You can find my Spotify profile here.
